Italian sitting volleyball team shortlisted for Italian Sportrait Awards’ Women’s Team of the Year

The Italian women’s sitting volleyball team have been nominated in the category of Top Women’s team in the Italian Sportrait Awards. The finalists of the 12th edition of the awards event were revealed on Monday, January 22.

The Azzurre achieved historic success after their home win at the European Championship last October 2023 in Caorle, confirming their spot for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The Italian Sportrait Awards was born in 2012 in an attempt to give a voice to all sports enthusiasts and fans to elect the best Italian athletes, not only on the basis of results, but above all, by rewarding those who have been able to excite through their sporting performances and inspire with their conduct on and off the competition field.

Meanwhile, the women’s national team will prepare for their first competition in 2024 since their European Championship title win in Caorle. The women’s and men’s teams will convene on January 26 to 28 in Pisa.

The women’s team is composed of Giulia Aringhieri, Giulia Bellandi, Eva Ceccatelli, Sara Cirelli, Elisa Spediacci, Flavia Barigelli, Raffaela Battaglia, Silvia Biasi, Francesca Bosio, Anna Ceccon, Sara Desini, Alessandra Moggio, Asia Sarzi Amadè, Roberta Pedrelli.

The men’s team will also start the new year with athletes Simone Burzacchi, Mattia Cordioli, Davide Posenato, Cristiano Crocetti, Federico Ripani, Luca Vallasciani, Michele Emanuele Di Ielsi, Claudiu Daniel Farcas, Alessandro Issi, Fabio Marsiliani, Paolo Mangiacapra.
