London 2012
The London Paralympics in 2012 had record sales of 2.7 million tickets sold for the Games with most Sitting Volleyball sessions sold out. The Games were broadcast to over 100 countries and territories with a cumulative TV audience of 3.8 billion. More than 11.2 million watched the Opening Ceremonies live making the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremonies Channel 4’s biggest audience of the decade. Throughout the Games there were 1.3 million tweets, 25 million people visited London2012.com and over 5.8 million people used the London 2012 Paralympic App.
Rio 2016
Despite all the challenges at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, 2.15 million tickets were sold and the Games broadcast coverage increased on Television, radio, and online outlets to 154 countries. Despite all the issue surrounding the Games, once again, many Sitting Volleyball matches were sold out in Rio, demonstrating the popularity of the sport.
