
Hangzhou, China, 9 June 2025 – Thailand and Japan commenced their bid in the 2025 PVAO Sitting Volleyball Zonal Championships, celebrating double wins against respective opponents at the WPV Development Centre on Monday.
The Thai women were first to register a victory with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14) match over Korea. Later, the men’s squad took over a tough 3-1 match ( 19-25, 25-19, 25-14, 26-24), registering another win against Korea.
Japan then replicated the feat in Monday’s double feature, sweeping Mongolia, 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-11), in the women’s event, then defeating Australia, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-12) in the men’s event.
In other matches in the men’s championship, hosts China eased into convincing win over Mongolia, 3-0 (25-8, 25-4, 25-11).
Kazakhstan likewise dealt a 3-0 match (25-13, 25-8, 25-9) over Saudi Arabia, to set off Central Asian side’s campaign to a solid start.
Iran women showed their highly competitive spirit in their 3-0 defeat of Australia (25-5, 25-7, 25-6).
