Women

Defending champions China, hosts the Netherlands and Canada are the first teams to book themselves a spot in the 2018 Sitting Volleyball World Championships quarterfinals having won their opening two games of pool play.

With the top two teams in each pool advancing to the quarterfinals, China, who has beaten USA to gold in the last two World Championships, has beaten Iran and Italy in Pool C and will advance to the last eight no matter the result against Slovenia who have lost their first two games also to Iran and Italy.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Canada can’t be overtaken in Pool A having both beaten Rwanda and Croatia. Tuesday will see who tops the group when the Netherlands plays Canada at 18:00.
The other two groups will come down to Tuesday’s last pool matches although Paralympic champions USA (two wins from two in Pool B), and Paralympic bronze medallists Brazil (two wins from two in Pool D) are virtually assured of advancing.

Mens

The big match of the day saw Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Egypt 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-19).
