United States captain Kathryn Holloway was hailed the Most Valuable Player of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games after steering her team to a back-to-back gold medal finish.

In her fourth Paralympics, the 35-year-old outside hitter led the way for the USA with a total of 54 points in the tournament, 20 of which were scored in their final standoff against China to win the title. Holloway recorded 36 attacks, 17 blocks and an ace across five matches.

Three of Holloway’s teammates were also named to the elite group. Kaleo Maclay was named Best Setter, Monique Matthews was the tournament’s Best Blocker, and Bethany Zummo bagged both Best Receiver and Best Libero awards. All four were returning members of the Rio 2016 squad that won USA’s first Paralympic title.
Meanwhile, Canada’s two-time Paralympian Heidi Peters led the tournament with 22 aces to win the Best Server award, while China’s Tang Xuemei was named Best Spiker in her return to the Games.
