A new global pathway created for top men’s and women’s club teams.
World ParaVolley is pleased to announce plans for the inaugural Sitting Volleyball Club World Championship, set to take place in the fourth quarter of 2028. Held every two years, the competition creates a brand-new global pathway for top-tier club teams worldwide.
The inaugural 2028 edition will feature eight men’s and eight women’s club teams, with potential plans to expand the field to 12 teams per gender starting in 2030.
Exclusive Focus on Clubs and Inclusion
The championship is exclusively reserved for officially recognized club teams. National teams, representative sides, and all-star selections will not be eligible, ensuring the focus remains squarely on building and celebrating sustainable club programs globally.
Inclusion and accessibility lie at the heart of this initiative. Sitting volleyball offers a unique sporting environment where athletes with and without disabilities compete alongside one another at the highest level, strengthening connections across the broader volleyball community.
Qualification and Timeline
Clubs will qualify through zonal, regional, and sub-zonal championships across World ParaVolley’s four zones:
- Africa
- Asia–Oceania
- Europe
- Pan-America
Continental qualification tournaments will take place throughout 2027. The host selection process for the 2028 finals will be finalized by the end of 2026.
This new championship marks an important milestone for international sitting volleyball, supporting long-term growth, increasing international competition opportunities, and providing local clubs with a clear route to the global stage.
