The Coaches Commission is excited to announce that applications are now open permanently for the sitting volleyball level 2 coaching course. Candidates can register to start the hybrid course at any time and then progress to the practical part when they are ready – offering flexibility, along with educational excellence
This advanced coaching certification is designed for those looking to deepen their expertise and further develop the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a high-performance environment.
The course offers a comprehensive and progressive approach to coaching. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Plan long-term, developmental, and progressive coaching programmes and sessions.
- Coach safely with due consideration for equity, safeguarding, and inclusion.
- Deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
- Develop a bank of tactical systems to utilize in game management situations.
- Evolve a coaching philosophy and explore its long-term impact on both the team and the athlete.
This qualification empowers participants to independently plan, deliver, and evaluate sitting volleyball-related activities for groups in high-performance environments, including match coaching in competition. Holders of a WPV Level 2 Diploma will also be eligible to participate in the Elite Coach Mentoring programme that will sit above it on the coaching pathway, due for launch later this year.
“We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to coaches worldwide,” said Matt Rogers, World Paravolley Coaches Commission Team Leader. “The course has been a long time in the making and is designed to elevate the level of coaching across the world, allowing participants to make a greater impact in their communities and contribute to the sport’s global growth. We have designed the course to meet the needs of a modern day high performance coach and received really positive feedback from those who attended the Pilot in China late last year. Thank you to all those who have been part of the course creation journey.”
Course Structure & Requirements
The course consists of two parts. Candidates can apply to start the course at any time and then look to join a practical course when a suitable one is available – however both parts must be completed within 2 years of starting the course.
Part A: e-learning, Knowledge Checks and Self Study (30 hours approx.)
The e-learning module own e-ParaVolley introduces foundational concepts and theory, which can be worked through at each individual candidate’s own pace. The content consists of 26 modules and integrated within are Knowledge Checks and Self Study assignments, along with the production of a (non assessed) Coaching Portfolio.
Part B: Practical (3 days)
Practical face-to-face sessions are designed to enable candidates to apply the knowledge gained in Part A, in both training and competitive environments, as well as learn from the other candidates on the course and the experienced Coach Tutors.
The course costs 100 EUR, payable on starting the e-learning part, along with the costs associated in attending the practical part of the court – the amount for this will vary based on timing and location.
