Brazil book double final appearance as Egypt and USA reach Sitting Volleyball World Cup finals

Brazil secured a place in both the men’s and women’s finals on Friday at the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup, taking centre stage at the Turnstone Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hosts United States, joined them in the women’s title match, while Egypt earned a spot in the men’s final after another commanding performance.

In the men’s semifinals, Brazil defeated hosts United States 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24) to advance to the championship match. The three-set victory continued the team’s consistent form throughout the competition. Egypt claimed the other place in the men’s final after overcoming Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-17), recovering from their loss on Thursday to come out strong heading into the gold medal match.

In the women’s event, the United States delighted home fans with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) win over Canada in the first semifinal, maintaining control in all three sets to confirm their place in the final. Brazil followed with a commanding 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-7) victory against Italy in the second semifinal. The results set up a North versus South American final between the United States and Brazil for the women’s title.

Earlier in the day, Poland defeated Japan 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-15) in the men’s 5-8 semifinal bracket to move closer to fifth place. Canada earned a hard-fought 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 11-25, 25-23, 15-9) victory over Croatia in the men’s 5-8 semifinal, recovering from two sets down to secure the win. Germany later captured fifth place in the women’s competition with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23) result against the Netherlands.

In the lower men’s classifications, the Netherlands won the 9-10 match with a 3-1 (25-13, 16-25, 25-23, 25-18) victory over Thailand, while France beat Australia 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-18) to claim 11th place. Italy finished 13th after sweeping India 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-14) earlier in the afternoon.

Saturday will mark the final day of the tournament, featuring the men’s championship clash between Brazil and Egypt and the women’s final between the United States and Brazil, bringing the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup to a close in Fort Wayne.
