Beach ParaVolley Worlds ready to make history in Mersin

Beach ParaVolley will reach a new milestone when the 2025 WPV Beach ParaVolley World Championships take place in Mersin from 18 to 25 October, as part of the World Abilitysport Beach Games.

The Games will be the first global event dedicated exclusively to beach and aquatic Para disciplines, marking a new stage in the sport’s growth and visibility. Mersin, a familiar host of major international competitions, will stage the Beach ParaVolley World Championships at Pompei Beach, a purpose-built venue along the city’s Mediterranean shoreline.

The event is being delivered through a partnership between World ParaVolley, World Abilitysport and the National Paralympic Committee of Türkiye. It follows the renewed Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two international organisations in 2023, aimed at expanding opportunities for Para athletes and creating shared pathways for the sport’s long-term development.

The men’s tournament in Mersin will gather teams from Poland, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, the United States, Slovakia and Latvia, with Türkiye and the USA each fielding multiple squads. The defending champions Poland return with the same quartet — Dariusz Cegielka, Filip Gaca, Artur Wasowicz and Rafal Wojtowicz — who went unbeaten to win gold at the 2024 edition in Chongqing, China.

Competition begins on 21 October with the preliminary round, running through 23 October, before the semifinals and medal matches on 24 October. The final pool composition and match order will be confirmed during the preliminary inquiry and technical meeting ahead of the opening day.

As one of the highlight events of the World Abilitysport Beach Games, the championships will bring athletes, officials and fans together in a celebration of sport and inclusion. The competition will showcase the progress of Beach ParaVolley as it continues to build its identity within the global Para sport community.

The matches in Mersin will offer more than results and rankings. They will reflect the dedication of athletes and organisers working to grow a sport that combines skill, teamwork and opportunity on the sand.
