The second Level 1 Coaching Course of the year has concluded in Kigali, marking another significant milestone in the growth of sitting volleyball across Africa. Hosted by the Rwanda National Paralympic Committee (NPC Rwanda), the intensive program brought together passionate coaches from Rwanda, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, and Saudi Arabia, all of whom proudly received their official World ParaVolley Level 1 diplomas upon completion. This global qualification aims at enhancing technical expertise, promoting inclusive sports development and empowering coaches to initiate more sitting volleyball activity in their respective regions.
The 2 day practical course combined theory sessions with practical on-court training, bringing to life the content covered in the e-learning modules that were completed before arrival in Rwanda. Led by certified World ParaVolley Coach Tutors, Mosaad Elaiuty (EGY) and Nathan Pretorius (RSA), participants gained in-depth understanding of coaching principles, athlete classification, and adaptive training methods specific to Sitting Volleyball. The participants also benefitted from the presence of world leading Iranian coach Hadi Rezaei who flew in early to join the Level 1 course before he tutors the Level 2 course immediately after.

Coach Tutor Mosaad Elaiuty, for whom this was the 9th Level 1 course he has tutored, reflected:
“I a really proud of everything we have achieved over the past days. In many ways this was the best course I have been involved with. It was not only educational but also inspiring — a reminder of how sport can unite people of all abilities.”
WPV Coaches Commission Team Leader, Matt Rogers GBR, praised the participants for their dedication:
“This course represents a vital step in empowering coaches to raise the level of sitting volleyball both nationally and internationally. We are really pleased with the how the new structure of our courses is being received and the feedback has been really positive.”

World ParaVolley’s development programs are designed to strengthen the foundation of ParaVolley globally by equipping coaches with the tools and knowledge necessary to identify and nurture new talent to grow the game to even more parts of the world.
On the day this course finished, 17 new coaches arrived to start their Level 2 practical course. The successful hosting of these courses reinforces Rwanda’s growing reputation as a leader in adaptive sports and highlights their commitment to expanding opportunities for athletes and coaches across the African continent.
