On behalf of World ParaVolley and with the recent and sudden passing of Daniel Lee Apol, I wish to offer sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
I had many an interesting conversation with Dan, be it in a Sitting Volleyball venue or at an airport lounge after an event at which he had officiated. He was cool and laid back with a very dry sense of humour. He loved his Volleyball and was greatly admired by the ParaVolley Refereeing community for his experience, capacity and unique style of officiating. I remember being with him at the Closing Ceremony of the Rio Paralympic Games and hearing how he had also successfully officiated in Beach Volleyball for the Rio Olympic Games – no-one else was able to do this.
Dan Apol will be sadly missed by all of the World ParaVolley family.
