The World ParaVolley Level 1 Coaching Qualification is designed for club coaches and national team assistants eager to extend their technical and tactical knowledge of sitting volleyball. This course equips coaches with the essential skills to develop players, create engaging training sessions, increase the level of their team and promote the sport’s growth at all levels.

What you will learn:

– How to set-up an appropriate and safe training environment
– The player eligibility requirements and talent ID (suitability and classification)
– How to support athletes in developing a performance life style
– The key technical points for a range of skills and bank of drills to develop them
– A selection of team systems and how to build towards them
– How athletes learn and coaching philosophies which support this


Course specifics:

  • Qualifies participants to: Lead on club training and match coaching or assist with the delivery of high performance training sessions and match play

  • Educational Hours: 35-40
    – e-learning – 10-12 hours
    – Linked courses – 2-3 hours
    – Portfilio Tasks (optional) – 8-10 hours
    – Self Study – 10-12 hours
    – Practical – 14 hours (1 x 8, 1 x 6)
  • General pre-requisites: Must be at least 18 years old
  • Sporting pre-requisites:
    – Minimum 3 years experience coaching a club or national team, and
    – Completion of VolleySLIDE e-learning, or
    – Hold a valid national Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
    – Hold a valid FIVB Level 1 or 2 Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
    – Hold a valid comparable National Paralympic Committee coaching qualification, or
    – Have competed at a World ParaVolley event as a Sitting Volleyball athlete
  • Target Tutor/Participant ratio: 1 to 14
  • Assessment: Continuous – e-learning knowledge checks, portfolio/self study tasks, active participation in sessions & activities / training session planning and observation
  • Awarded: Diploma (or Certificate of Attendance)
  • Cost: 100 EUR WPV Registration Fee*, plus cost of attending practical element (*certain developing countries, as defined by the World Bank, will be able to apply for a 50% discount, subject to application)
  • Time limit: must complete within 24 months of registration
  • Practical Organiser: World ParaVolley Zones
  • Coaching License Validity: Coaches must complete 2 WPV webinars/workshops a year
