World ParaVolley Launches New Activation Funding Opportunity

Multiple grants of up to €1,000 available to support projects that grow and strengthen Sitting Volleyball around the world.

World ParaVolley is inviting members of our community — including National Federations, clubs, and the coaches, officials, players and administrators working within them — to apply for funding of up to €1,000 to deliver activation projects that help grow, develop and strengthen Sitting Volleyball.

The new ParaVolley Activation Funding Opportunity is designed to support individuals and organisations within our community who have an idea that can make a tangible difference in growing the game — whether that is introducing more people to Sitting Volleyball, developing coaches, officials, classifiers and administrators, recruiting new players, improving governance, or using technology to help the sport grow.

We are particularly interested in projects that are practical, achievable and capable of creating a lasting impact beyond the period of funding.

What can the funding support?

Projects should achieve one or more of the following objectives and impact a high number of people, and must use only the eligible cost categories set out in “What the funding can be used for”:

1. Promote Sitting Volleyball through digital media

Projects that use social media, video, photography, websites, podcasts or other digital platforms to increase awareness, exposure and understanding of Sitting Volleyball. All content must be non-commercial. Applicants will be asked to share their raw video footage and photography with World ParaVolley for inclusion in the central WPV content library, and to grant World ParaVolley unrestricted use of the material.

2. Coach Education

Initiatives that help develop coaches, increase coaching knowledge or create new opportunities for coach education within ParaVolley, delivered either in person or online. Projects that align with the World ParaVolley coach education pathway, that subsidise coach participation in recognised courses, or that produce or enhance Sitting Volleyball coaching materials are particularly welcome.

3. Recruitment of ParaVolley players

Projects that introduce new people with disabilities to Sitting Volleyball, identify potential players, or create opportunities for people to participate and become part of our community, delivered through come-and-try sessions, introductory workshops, talent identification days or similar activity in existing or prospective member nations.

4. Development of national refereeing, classification and technical officials

Activities that support the development of referees, classifiers, technical officials or other personnel required to deliver Sitting Volleyball competitions and programmes, including subsidised participation in recognised courses and the delivery of national or regional officiating and classification workshops.

5. Sport governance and administration

Projects that help National Federations, National Paralympic Committees or other organisations improve their governance, administration, structures, policies or long-term development of Sitting Volleyball, delivered through capacity-building workshops, training or targeted technical support. Examples include constitutional and statute reviews, safeguarding and integrity policies, strategic planning, and the administrative systems a federation needs in order to affiliate to and remain in good standing with World ParaVolley.

6. Establishing Sitting Volleyball in a new nation

Projects that introduce Sitting Volleyball into a country or territory where it is not yet organised, and take the first practical steps toward an affiliated, sustainable national programme.

What the funding can be used for:

Funding is reimbursed against receipted expenditure in the following categories only:

  • Travel and transport costs
  • Accommodation and subsistence
  • Course and workshop delivery fees, and directly related administration costs
  • Sub-contractor or production fees, including content production and digital development work

The following cannot be reimbursed:

  • Equipment, kit, balls, nets, prosthetics or any other capital item
  • Facility purchase or long-term hire
  • Ongoing licence, hosting, domain or subscription fees
  • Prize money, appearance fees or hospitality
  • Funding not related to Sitting Volleyball

Who can apply?

Applications are open to people and organisations from the ParaVolley community who have an idea that fits one or more of the objectives above.

This could include coaches, players, referees, technical officials, administrators, National Federations, clubs, organisations or other individuals and groups working to develop Sitting Volleyball. Applicants do not need to be part of an affiliated National Federation, but projects delivered with — or with the knowledge of — the relevant National Federation will be viewed favourably.

You do not need to propose a large-scale project. In fact, we are particularly interested in small, focused initiatives that can deliver a clear and measurable impact with a maximum investment of €1,000.

What are we looking for?

Your proposal should explain:

  • What you want to do
  • Which of the objectives your project addresses (please name it)
  • Who will benefit, and how many people
  • How the project will help develop Sitting Volleyball
  • When and where it will take place
  • How you would use the funding, up to a maximum of €1,000, broken down using the eligible cost categories above
  • What you expect the project to achieve

The proposal should be no more than one page.

We want to make this opportunity as accessible as possible, so there is no complicated application form. Simply put your idea on one page and tell us why you believe it will make a difference.

Have an idea? We want to hear it.

This funding opportunity is about giving the ParaVolley community the opportunity to take action.
Sometimes a small project can be the starting point for something much bigger — a new group of players, a new coach, a new referee, a new digital audience, a stronger federation or a new way of doing things.
If you have an idea that can help activate, develop or grow Sitting Volleyball, we want to hear it.

How to apply

Prepare a maximum one-page proposal outlining your project and send it to:
developmentdirector@worldparavolley.org

Please include “Activation Funding Application” in the subject line. Please also state clearly which objective(s) your project addresses and include a short expected budget.

Applications should be submitted by 24th September 2026. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of September.

Your idea and action could help shape the future of ParaVolley in your region or area.
