World ParaVolley has confirmed that the 2019 Board of Directors meeting will take place at the World ParaVolley Development Centre in Hangzhou, China from 12-14 March, after receiving an invitation from Lu Cailiang, PVAO President to host the event.
The 2019 Board event follows a constructive three-day meeting on the eve of the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Arnhem, Netherlands in July, when the Board reflected on the organisations impressive growth and reviewed strategy, governance and structure whilst building for a very bright future, hinged on its key initiative – The World ParaVolley Foundation.
In Hangzhou, the Board members will report on the decisions made in the Netherlands concerning their functional areas, including key subject areas such as competitions, antidoping and classification. Development will also be an important subject with the members having the opportunity to review the World ParaVolley Development Centre model in Hangzhou with an eye for the introduction of other Development Centres around the world. A further two Centres are currently under evaluation.
On the sidelines of the Board meeting, World ParaVolley President Barry Couzner OAM, ParaVolley Asia-Oceania President Lu Cailiang and World ParaVolley Medical Director Louise Ashcroft will meet the Director of the Sports Medicine College and the Director of the Volleyball College at the Beijing Sports University in order to pursue future collaboration with World ParaVolley’s Medical Research Commission and the Sport Research Commission.
Meanwhile, the Board members continue to meet online during the year to ensure full transparency and collaboration across all areas of the organisation.
