World ParaVolley opens Development Centre in Hangzhou, China

Announcement – Development Centre Opening

World ParaVolley, in cooperation with the China Goalball Training Centre is pleased to announce that the first World ParaVolley Development Centre has been opened in Hangzhou, China on the occasion of the Gala Ceremony for the ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships.

The Centre will host upcoming competitions, training courses for World ParaVolley Officials and camps for teams leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and beyond.  The facilities include several Sitting Volleyball courts, a fitness room, meeting rooms, on-site accommodation and restaurant areas.

World ParaVolley President Barry Couzner opened the Development Centre together with Ms. Zhang Haidi who is the nominee of NPC China for the upcoming IPC election for President.  Zhang travelled especially to Hangzhou to meet with World ParaVolley Officials and the delegates from Asia Oceania who attended the General Assembly of ParaVolley Asia Oceania.  Ms. Zhang attended a dinner together with all World ParaVolley Delegates and Officials.

World ParaVolley plans to open several other Development Centres in the coming years so that all four Zones have at least one Centre – enabling development activities to be focused in appropriate facilities with back-up administrative services for the benefit of our athletes.
