Bangkok, Thailand, June 12, 2019 – A determined Thailand team earned their first win in the men’s tournament of the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships on Wednesday, with a straight-set (25-22, 25-19, 25-16) triumph over Japan at Huamark Indoor Stadium.
The home team opened the match with a 25-22 win after taking advantage of the visiting side’s errors early in the set. The hosts held a two-point advantage at the second technical timeout but Japan gained momentum to deadlock after the break. After a point-by-point exchange in the succeeding plays, Thailand pulled away and secured victory.
The second set started with a tight score but Thailand gained the upper hand, earning points off errors of Japan and from their strong attacks. Japan tried to make a comeback but failed as the hosts scored the final three points that closed the set 25-19.
Thailand continued with their strong pace and maintained their lead throughout the third set to complete the match victory at 25-16.
