
The gold medal matchup at the ASEAN Para Games Thailand 2025 was confirmed on Saturday as Myanmar and Indonesia emerged as the top two teams following the conclusion of the men’s sitting volleyball double round-robin preliminary round in Nakhon Ratchasima.
On the final day of preliminary play, results involving the Philippines and a decisive meeting between Myanmar and Indonesia settled the final standings and confirmed the medal matches. Myanmar entered the day unbeaten, with Indonesia and Thailand remaining close in the race for the top two positions.
Myanmar opened Saturday with a straight-sets victory over the Philippines, winning 3–0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20) to improve to 5–0 and maintain their unbeaten record heading into the final match of the preliminary phase.
Thailand later completed their preliminary schedule with a 3–0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-9) win over the Philippines, closing the round with three wins and three losses as attention turned to the decisive final match of the day.
That final match proved pivotal, as Indonesia defeated Myanmar 3–0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-23). The result handed Myanmar their first loss of the tournament and lifted Indonesia into second place in the final standings, confirming a gold medal rematch between the two sides.
Myanmar finished the preliminary round in first place with a 5–1 record, followed by Indonesia at 4–2, Thailand at 3–3 and the Philippines at 0–6. The standings confirmed Myanmar and Indonesia as finalists, with Thailand and the Philippines set to contest the bronze medal match.
The gold medal match carries added historical significance. Former ASEAN Para Games champions Myanmar return to the final after Cambodia and Thailand claimed gold at the previous two editions, respectively. Indonesia will be aiming to secure their first gold medal in men’s sitting volleyball at the Games.
