Korea outlast Cambodia in straight sets

Bangkok, Thailand, June 13, 2019 – Korea endured a tough three-set challenge by Cambodia in the men’s tournament of the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at the Huamark Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

Korea led at the start of the first set but Cambodia’s assertiveness on the attack allowed their side to snatch the lead at the first technical timeout 8-7. Korea somehow managed to get their own offence going and the advantage, but their rivals remained persistent as they trailed closely behind. Korea survived the set with a three-point edge at 25-22.

The Cambodians continuously chased the Koreans as the former for every point made by the East Asian side. The Koreans kept their composure down the final stretch of the second set and won 25-20.

The Southeast Asians started the third set with a lead but Korea bounced back to tie the score at 12-all, then a series of deadlocks and lead changes ensued with the Koreans gaining favour with a thrilling 29-27 finish.
