Bangkok, Thailand, June 11, 2019 – Korea outplayed their neighbours Japan with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13) win in their encounter at the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at the Huamark Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
The two East Asian teams fought for every point at the start of the first set, resulting to a tight score. Japan got the first break to lead in the set, but Korea swung the momentum to their side midway through the set with a two-point edge at 18-16. The Koreans continued to safeguard the advantage until they closed the set at 25-22.
The Korean team kept a good tempo and held on to their lead throughout the second set. Japan tried to fight back but the Korean hitters always kept their side ahead. Japan misfired an attack on the final point that conceded the set to Korea 25-20.
Japan played more consistently in the third frame that allowed them to extend the match to a fourth set with a 25-23 win. In the fourth set, the Koreans regained their momentum by executing great plays that gave them a big lead. A strong spike and an ace sealed the win for Korea 25-13.
