Bangkok, Thailand, June 12, 2019 – Japan added another match to their win-column on Wednesday after beating Korea in straight sets in the women’s tournament of the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at Huamark Indoor Stadium.
Japan bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to China by recording a 3-0 (25-5, 25-4, 25-20) victory over Korea.
The Japanese dominated the Koreans in the first two sets as the latter struggled to score. Japan utilised their quickness on defence and responded with well-placed spikes to win the opening set. Satoko Kikuchi made 14 straight trips to the service line for Japan at the start of the second set, as the Koreans still struggled with their defence and were limited to just four markers on the scoreboard.
The Koreans showed a better version of themselves – being more aggressive on offence and defence against their Japanese counterparts. However, the Japanese were more organised in their play and regained their composure to complete the match sweep at 25-20.
