Heather Erickson of the United States was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the women’s sitting volleyball competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, leading her team to their third consecutive Paralympic gold medal. The USA once again proved their strength in the sport, defeating China in a thrilling final to extend their golden streak.

Erickson’s powerful attacking and consistent leadership were pivotal in the USA’s path to victory. Known for her strong offence and calm demeanour under pressure, Erickson was the top scorer in the final, where her ability to read the game and deliver key points at critical moments made all the difference.

Joining Erickson in the accolades was her teammate Lora Webster, who was named Best Blocker for her defensive excellence throughout the tournament. Webster’s blocking skills stifled opponents, especially in the final, where her well-timed interventions halted China’s momentum.

The USA’s strong lineup also featured Kaleo Kanahele, who was awarded Best Setter. Kanahele’s precise ball distribution set up her teammates for success, providing a steady platform for the team’s attacking power.

Canada’s Heidi Peters earned the title of Best Server, with her powerful and accurate serves giving her team an advantage in key moments. Peters’ serving was a major factor in Canada’s strong campaign, which saw them secure a bronze medal after a competitive tournament.

China’s Zhang Lijun was recognised as Best Receiver for her exceptional defensive work and ability to handle even the toughest serves. Her resilience and agility were key in keeping China in contention during their intense matches, including the silver-medal battle against the USA.

Jolan Wong of Canada rounded out the Dream Team as Best Libero, her quick reactions and anticipation anchoring Canada’s defence. Wong’s steady presence on the court helped Canada secure their place on the podium.
