Bangkok, Thailand, June 11, 2019 – In a repeat of the 2017 women’s final, China once again proved their dominance over Japan as they recorded their first win 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-3) in the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at the Huamark Indoor Stadium.
Meeting on Tuesday in their first of two encounters in the preliminary round, China showed their authority over their East Asian neighbours with a 25-9 win in the first set.
Japan fought hard to overcome China’s strong offence by executing a great defensive strategy that helped them trail closely by earning points on the counter-attack. They succeeded to level the score at 12-all but the Chinese reacted quickly to regain the lead back and eventually secured the second set at 25-19.
China opened the third set with a powerful 9-0 run, then Japan finally got the breather when China committed a fault on their rotation. However, China retaliated and scored six straight points that prompted their rivals to call a timeout. China continued with the attack onslaught until they claimed the straight-set win at 25-3.
