Today in Warendorf – Day 5

A big day today at the 2015 ParaVolley Europe Men’s Sitting Volleyball Championships in Warendorf!

Today saw an incredible semi-final match between Germany and Russia, the winner of which could qualify for the Rio2016 Paralympic Games, depending on the result of the second semi-final between Bosnia & Herzegovina and the Ukraine.

The BIH vs. UKR match finished before the 5-set GER vs. RUS match, with BIH winning in three sets and advancing to the final.  And as BIH had already qualified for Rio2016 at the 2014 World Championships, the winner of the other semi final would gain the only Rio2016 spot available at the European Championships!

Germany prevailed in a hard fought match, fighting back from an 11-13 deficit late in the 5th set to win 15-13, advancing to the gold medal match, and qualifying for Rio2016!
