Summary – Day 4 Preliminary Rounds
Today saw all 10 teams in the TO2015 Parapan Am Sitting Volleyball competition in action once again.
In the first match of the day, the men from Brazil easily handled the much less experienced team from Colombia, taking the match in 3 sets by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-19. The scrappy Colombians put up a good battle in the third set but could not overcome the size and experience of the Brazilians.
The second match of the day saw the USA men take on the team from Costa Rica. The USA had little trouble disposing of the Costa Rican by scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-17.
Men’s action continued in the third match of the day with Canada taking on the team from Mexico. The Canadians overpowered the spirited Mexicans in 3 sets by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-17.
In women’s action today, Cuba and Canada competed in a very closely contested match which Canada won in 3 sets by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20. The Cubans put up a great fight and refused to give in to the more experienced Canadian squad.
The final match of the evening was the most eagerly anticipated of the day as the number 3 ranked American women took on the number 4 ranked Brazilians. The competition in the first two games was very close but the Americans outclassed the Brazilians in the third set to win the match by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-11.
