Sitting Volleyball Rules of the Game Committee structure approved

The growth and development of Sitting Volleyball took a giant leap following the decision by the World ParaVolley Board of Directors to approve in principle the structure and processes for the establishment of the Sitting Volleyball Rules of the Game Committee at its meeting on September 12.

The Committee will have coaches, athletes and referees represented and will meet regularly to plan research and review the Rules of the Game for Sitting Volleyball. It is planned to have a specific Rules of the Game Committee for Beach ParaVolley (Standing) as well.

Meanwhile, ParaVolley Europe will soon appoint an Education Commissioner to assist with the planning and delivery of World ParaVolley courses for coaches, referees, classifiers and technical officials. World ParaVolley will work towards a similar appointment in the future to ensure greater coordination of all education courses, particularly since the FIVB has recently offered use of their e-learning platform for World ParaVolley use in the medium term.

Meanwhile, ParaVolley Europe have announced former Latvia international Una Dzalba as its new Training & Education Commissioner where she will be part of the Development department and will work closely with the Sport Department:

  • to develop referee education and training
  • to develop classification education and training
  • to develop coach education and training

Dzalba will also assist with the planning and delivery of World ParaVolley courses for coaches, referees, classifiers and technical officials. World ParaVolley will work towards a similar appointment in the future to ensure greater coordination of all education courses, particularly since the FIVB has recently offered use of their e-learning platform for World ParaVolley to use in the medium term.
