The World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball Rules of the Game Committee has been confirmed, with the addition of the Women’s and Men’s teams’ representatives having been confirmed by the Board of Directors.
Recent elections for these two positions resulted in Bill Hamiter, USA, and Michael Merten, GER having been elected to these two positions.
Bill Hamiter has been USA Volleyball’s Sitting Volleyball High Performance Director and Head Coach of the USA Women’s Sitting Volleyball National Team since 2009. He has led the team to multiple podium performances at World Championships and Paralympic Games. Prior to that, Bill had been head coach for the USA Men’s Sitting Volleyball Team.
Bill is also an Instructor for USA Volleyball’s Coaching Accreditation Program and has instructed coaches in both the standing discipline and sitting discipline of volleyball around the US and internationally.
Michael Merten has been the Head Coach of the German Men’s Sitting Volleyball Team since 2017. Michael has been actively coaching since 1985, in all age classes for both men’s and women’s volleyball. He has led teams at all levels – youth, 2.Div Germany, 1.Div Germany, 1. Div Austria, 1. Div Romania, 1. Div Greece, German Youth and Junior Boys National Teams, and the Men’s Austrian National Team – to name but a few – the list is extensive!
