We received the below message from the Russian Paralympic Committee yesterday:
“Dear Colleagues,
September 10, 2016 after a long illness Victor Dyakov, founder of Russian sitting volleyball, coach of bronze medalists of Paralympic Games in 2008 , died.
Victor S. Dyakov was born on 12/09/1938 in Alma-Ata. He is Master of Sports, Honored coach, honored coach of Russia on volleyball , he was a head coach for men’s national volleyball sitting team of Russia.
Viktor Dyakov founded and coached one of the first Russian men volleyball team sitting in Sverdlovsk region in the sport club for disabled “Rodnik” . The triumph of his work was winning of the bronze medal at the XIII Paralympic Summer Games 2008 in Beijing (China).
For his outstanding achievements in the development of physical culture and sports Viktor Dyakov was awarded a medal “For Service to the Motherland» II degree (2010), the badge “Excellence in Physical Culture and Sports”, a medal “For merits in physical culture and sport development” (2001).
