World Championship debutants Italy were the big movers as the latest World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Rankings were published on Wednesday, marking one month since the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships took place in the Netherlands.
The Italy women’s team finished fourth in Rotterdam to move from 16th in the world to 11th in the Women’s World Rankings.
With the last World Championships results replacing the previous edition’s results of 2014 in the world rankings, women’s world champion Russia dropped one spot from seventh to eighth while Canada (seventh at the World Championships) moved up three places from ninth to sixth and the Netherlands (eighth at the World Championships) fell from fifth to seventh.
The top four teams remained in place with world No. 1 and World Championship silver medalists USA followed by World Championship bronze medalists China and Brazil and the Ukraine.
In the Men’s World Rankings the top five remain unchanged with world champions Iran still at No. 1 followed by bronze medalists Brazil, Egypt and World Championship silver medalists Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Only changes saw China (seventh at World Championship) and Germany (10th at World Championship) swap places to move to sixth and seventh spot respectively, Japan (15th at World Championship) and Rwanda (16th at World Championship) move up three places from 17th and 18th spot respectively while Croatia (13th at World Championship) dropped two places from 15th to 17th.
