Today was the final day of competition at the 2015 ParaVolley Europe Women’s Sitting Volleyball Championships.
CONGRATULATIONS TO UKRAINE! EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS IN WOMEN’S SITTING VOLLEYBALL!
The Gold medal match certainly lived up to expectations as Russia and Ukraine battled it out over five exciting sets! It was Russia’s third 5-set match of the tournament, but they showed no fatigue as they battled back from two sets down to force a fifth set.
And that fifth set featured many lead changes – both teams fought hard, but in the end it was Ukraine who persevered, winning the set 15-13, and claiming the GOLD MEDAL and the Qualification slot for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games!
Earlier in the day, Slovenia defeated the Netherlands in five sets to claim the Bronze Medal.
CONGRATULATIONS to all teams, to the hosts, and to ParaVolley Europe on a successful Championships!
