Germany and Poland 1 sweep through pool play in Pingtan

Germany’s Torben Schiewe/Heiko Wiesenthal/Elmar Sommer and Poland 1’s Adam Stepien/Artur Wasowicz/Rafal Wojtowicz topped their respective groups with a sweep of all their matches in the pool play round of 2019 Beach ParaVolley World Series Pingtan Open.

The Germans completed the sweep in Pool A with two victories on Friday against India 1’s Datar Deewarata/Abhishek Aluwala/Sahir Ali Mallick 2-0 (21-15, 21-10) and win by default against China, while Poland 1 outshined Slovakia’s Rudolf Makovini/Martin Dubovsky/Juraj Kucej 2-0 (21-10, 21-19).

Also winning their matches on the second day is Poland 2 to finish second in Pool A. Bartolomiej Synoweic/Jacek Molinski/Michal Wypych defeated Australian trio Nic Kaiser/Nick Coburn/Bradley Barclay 2-0 (21-18, 23-21) and prevailed in the tiebreaker against India 1 (21-13, 9-21, 15-10).

The men’s competition will continue on Saturday with Germany facing USA in the opening match, followed by the matches between Poland 2 and India 2, India 1 and Slovakia, and Australia and Poland 1.

Meanwhile, China continued with their dominance against the United States in the women’s competition, as Li Min/Xu Danshu/Chen Yalin clutched another straight-set win (21-18, 21-10) over Autum Reagan/Meredith Gross/Skye McDermott.

The final match of these two sides will resume on Sunday, May 12 at 13:30 (GMT +8).
