World ParaVolley are delighted to launch expressions of interest for the first ever Level 2 Coaching award for Sitting Volleyball.  Leading coach educators from around the world have been building an enhanced coach pathway over recent years and are looking for suitable candidates to be part of the first pilot group to go through the top qualification.

The Level 2 award qualifies participants to independently plan, deliver and evaluate sitting volleyball related activities to groups in this high-performance environment, including coaching in competition.

The course covers 36 Learning Objectives and requires 55-60 educational hours, made up of:

Part A: e-learning – 15 hours, and Self Study – 15-20 hours
Part B : Practical face-to face – 22 hours (2 x 8, 1 x 6)

Content covered by the course includes:

– Individual athlete support
– Classification rules and processes
– Session planning
– Skill acquisition and drill management
– Managing team staff
– Team systems and tactics
– Match analysis
– Coaching philosophy

This pilot requires candidates to complete Part A through August and early September 2024 and then attend Part B in Hangzhao (China) from 19-22 October 2024 – note: the arrival day is 19th October, the course runs 20-22 and candidate departure is either the evening of 22 October, or 23 October 2024.

Later this year, the Level 2 Coaching course will be on-line for ongoing applications to start Part A, then those who have completed this theory part can express interest in practical (Part B) courses as then become available to finish the qualification.


Pilot Course Fees:

To undertake the course, candidates are required to pay the World ParaVolley registration fee of 100 EUR at the point of acceptance onto the pilot.

Then for those who are confirmed as attending, the costs associated with the 3 day practical at the Development Centre in China.  These costs would be:
– Cost of travel to Hangzhou airport (China)
– 100 EUR per night for shared accommodation, local transportation and food (OR 120 EUR for a single room)
Candidates from certain countries can also apply to have their course costs covered by an IPC grant – more information is included below.

Candidate Pre-requisites:
– Must be at least 21 years old
– Have a supporting letter from WPV member country (where applicable)
– Hold the WPV Level 1 Coaching Sitting Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid national Level 2 or above Coaching Volleyball qualification, or
– Hold a valid FIVB Level 1 or 2 Coaching Volleyball qualification

Assessment:
Candidates will be continuously assessed using e-learning knowledge checks, portfolio/self study tasks, active participation in sessions & activities, practical observation in training and match situation and engagement in a wide range of practical activities allied to high-performance coaching.

World ParaVolley will be reviewing applications on a first come first serve basis and give priority to candidates from the Asia Oceania zone, the zone hosting the Practical (Part B) element of the course.

GRANT AVAILABLE

We are pleased to announce that World ParaVolley has obtained a grant from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to cover a limited number of candidates to these courses. The grant will cover all costs, including course fees, transport, accommodation and food. The IPC have restricted the use of the grant to applicants from certain developing countries.
