This mentoring programme is designed as the final and most prestigious step in the World ParaVolley coach education pathway (“Level 3”), aimed at shaping the next generation of highly qualified sitting volleyball coaches.

The programme offers a unique opportunity for elite coaches to work one-on-one with world-renowned mentors, ensuring that participants gain expert guidance in developing their own identified target areas.  This structured mentorship initiative will not only improve coaching practices but also cultivate a culture of global knowledge sharing within the sitting volleyball community.

The programme aims to attract a diverse range of coaches from across the globe, ensuring that participants have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from the best in the sport.  The ultimate programme objective is to equip coaches with the tools they need to succeed, while simultaneously contributing to the overall growth and competitiveness of sitting volleyball worldwide.

Timeline:

The mentorship programme runs over the course of 12 months annually and will consist of four distinct phases, outlined below. Each phase is designed to address a different aspect of coaching growth, from setting goals and refining techniques to applying learned strategies in real-world settings.

1 – Establishment

November (year before): Applications open/close
December (year before): WPV Coaches Commission selects coaches for programme and pairs with mentors based on expertise, coaching style, development needs, geography, and suitability.
January: Mentees to complete self-analysis using WPV Elite Coaching Standards list and choose up to five focus areas for development through programme.

2 – Development

– February – August: Mentor/Mentee introduction session, followed by six hours of one-two-one discussion/reflection, split as agreed between mentor and mentee.
– February – August: Six exclusive mentor led webinars for whole programme cohort on targeted topics.

3 – Practical Implementation

– September – November: Mentees to lead training sessions or games with real-time mentor feedback or via recorded video footage for mentors for review/discuss.  Plus, where possible and relevant, potential for mentees to observe and shadow mentors in training camps and/or competitions.

4 – Assessment & Certification
