Day two of the Sitting Volleyball event at the TO2015 Paralympic Games is in the books. All 10 teams were in action today; for the women it was their first day of competition.
In the first match of the day, the Colombian men handed the Costa Rican men a defeat in 3 straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-11.
Women’s matches began today and in the second match of the day, a very strong Brazilian team defeated the Cuban women’s team in 3 sets by scores of 25-23, 25-9, and 25-16. This was the first international competition for the Cuban women.
In the second women’s match of the day, the USA women handed Canada a loss in 3 sets by scores of 25-1, 25-14 and 25-11. The Canadians had trouble getting untracked in the first set, but settled down and played much better in the final two sets against the much more experienced American squad.
The best match of the day featured Brazil and Canadian men. The Brazilians are currently ranked 3rd in the world so were most formidable opponents for the Canadian squad.
