Important Announcement: Pingtan 2020 Beach ParaVolley World Championship Series update on COVID-19

Dear friends in Beach ParaVolley,

As the entire world comes to grips with the threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak which has affected many countries, mainly China, the World ParaVolley can confirm that the Sports Department has been closely monitoring the situation and is continuing to negotiate with the Pingtan Local Organising Committee (LOC) to host the event on the scheduled dates of 28 to 31 May 2020.

At this stage, we encourage all nations to start their preparations to participate in the event, but without confirming any travel arrangements until we have completed negotiations with the LOC. The LOC is working closely with the Chinese authorities and we hope to provide you with further updates on the situation in the coming weeks. We still have over three months before the start of the event and while some of the signs of this global health situation are still extremely serious, we are hoping that it will start to improve.

We acknowledge that this is an uncertain time and we understand that many of the members may choose take some precautionary measures not to participate in the event at the moment. The World ParaVolley accepts this as good information and awareness to influence the hosts to consider delaying the start of the competition until it is deemed safe for all the teams and delegates to participate.

We also would like to encourage other Zones to consider the option to host additional Beach ParaVolley events this year and to start planning for the year 2021.
